She is Kira, a little Boxer, extremely loyal and full of energy. I adopted her when she was about 3 months old from an animal shelter located in Guatemala City.
It didn’t take long for my beloved Kira to start showing symptoms of fever, so she was taken to the vet to be told the cause of it.
At the time of receiving the results, the vet indicated that it was only a slight fever and that it would disappear in a few days and not to worry. Kira’s fever disappeared, but it did not take long for it to reappear with more intensity, this time, along with labored breathing and constant tearing.
Before taking her back to the vet, I did a little research on what canine diseases show the symptoms that Kira had. One of the results obtained was the disease called “distemper”, which can be fatal if not treated quickly.
I took Kira back to the vet for a second exam, this time, in fear that it could be the mentioned illness. A blood sample and one of the eye secretions were obtained to verify if Kira had “distemper” disease. Upon obtaining the results, my greatest fear came true, since they pointed out that she had this dangerous disease and that it should be treated with great delicacy.
The vet indicated that since Kira was adopted from an animal shelter, maybe she has not been properly vaccinated, although I was told the opposite at the time of picking her up.
To prevent the disease from spreading further, constant treatment with antibiotics is necessary to control bacterial infections, as well as anti-inflammatories and medication for symptoms of diarrhea, vomiting or cough.
Unfortunately, due to the pandemic caused by “COVID-19”, I lost my job and it is impossible for me to pay for all the antibiotics and medications necessary to keep Kira out of risk. Therefore, I start this little campaign, and thus be able to give Kira an opportunity to live a full and loving life.
In advance, I want to thank you for your support, either by sharing my campaign or by donating to it. God bless you!
