Dear Friends, Family, Community, and World!
My name is Schildonald Jeannoel but people call my Donald for short and I am a proud graduate of the class of 2020 from Brockton, Massachusetts. My senior year was unfortunately cut short, and although I was unable to create a lot of memories, I won’t let that stop me. I am excited about the journey and new experiences yet to come.
I started this GoFundMe campaign to ask for your help to get me on my way to college and kick start my future. I have been accepted into the University of Massachusetts Boston in the fall and will strive for a bachelor’s of Science degree in engineering. I always dreamed of becoming an engineer and being the First person in my household to go to college. Ever since I was young and living in Florida, I loved to build and make things more efficient. I want to become a fine African American engineer and make my parents proud.
I have been able to maintain a 3.5 GPA throughout my four years of high school. I have been a part of a program called for 3 years. Empower yourself is divided into two different units called YIS and NSBE. YIS short for Young Investors Society was where I first learned about stocks and their fundamentals. I later went on to win states for a stock pitch competition and went on to compete in New York for nationals. We didn’t win but I gave us great insight into the real world of stocks as well what it meant to never give up. The second unit is NSBE. NSBE short for the National Society of Black Engineers is where we learned about all the types of engineering and were taught how to think like engineers. This was the first step in reaching my long term goal. We built robots, programmed machines, and even came up with plans to build a park with large storage containers rather than leaving them in landfills. (Didn’t pass because the budget wasn’t enough) In my spare time, I take part in a youth program at my church, where we learn the word of god and how we can use the saying in the bible in our everyday lives. And of course, I love to look at nature and even improve my art by drawing it.
I promised my parents that if I got into the University of my choice I would put in 100%. When I visited the Umass Boston before school cancellation I knew it was for me. Among all the schools I got into it was the one with the best scenery and closet to the cape. I knew it was a place where I can flourish, grow, spread my wings, transform into a new man, and excel on every level. I am positive that I will do well and am confident that I will secure more scholarships in the future. Soon I will be able to secure my future and strive to support myself.
Please help me to achieve my goal and bring me one step closer to success. I humbly ask that you donate to my college fund, and bring me one step closer to becoming a proud beacon at Umass Boston. It doesn’t have to be much, and whatever you can spare will help.
Thank you for your time and think you for investing in me as well as my dream!
